Definition:
oc·cult - not revealed : secret, not easily apprehended
or understood, hidden from view, not manifest or detectable by clinical
methods alone.
The turn of the century 18-19 hundreds was a time of great spiritual activity
and exploration. From Houdini,
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Blavatsky,
to the Fox sisters.
England was all a buzz with spiritual concepts from India and the Orient.
Fine incense from foreign lands were in vogue as well as statues and grotesque
home decor. A most excellence example of this decor can be found in the
movie Moulin
Rouge. The Victorian era was a time of exploring spiritual boundaries,
and shrugging off some of the repression of the church. The blend of rich
velvets with the sheen of Indian brass was to be found not only among
the bohemians, but the rich and powerful as well. This surge of enlightenment
and exploration manifested in such forms as Aleister
Crowley, Yeats,
Dion Fortune, The Golden Dawn,
and many secret societies. For statistics check out this page.
The meaning of the word Occult has been obscured in recent times. The
surge of Satanism in the 1960's and 1970's basically engulfed all forms
of alternative religions. The pentagram- an ancient symbol of protection
was misused and misdefined, as well as many other aspects of occultism.
We have come from a great respect and reverence of Occultism to fear and
misunderstanding. The spiritual revolution that took place in our past
is manifesting again in our modern times. We hope to reclaim the magick,
and dignity of the Victorian occultist era. Those who seek spirituality
as a life path are all seeking this elusive beauty called enlightenment.
We welcome all seekers on the path!
Meet the Owner
I am Reverend
Korinne, owner of "The Occult Shop On-Line". (Hi There!) I have been active
in my local Pagan community since 1990. Through the years I have been
affiliated with the pagan shows on WAIF radio, various psychic fairs,
and local stores. In 1992 I began psychic reading professionally and founded
the "Warehouse Psychics" at the Warehouse night club. I worked
at the Warehouse for over 5 years. I also worked for a short time for
A.J. at "Salem West" in Columbus, Ohio. During that time I branched out
in the pagan and psychic/healing communities. In Nov. of 97 I moved to
Delaware for two years. When I moved back to Cincy in April of 99 my business
partners and I purchased "The Keltic Knot" which was a pagan friendly
New Age store. We then changed the focus of the store to cater to all
pagan paths and renamed it "The Occult Shop".
In May of 1999 "The Occult Shop" went on-line and has been going strong
ever since. All web design is created and maintained by Rev. Korinne.
In August of 2000 I founded "Coven of the Illuminated Shadow". I also
wrote the Astrology column in "Citizen" magazine. In the Occult Shop I
did Tarot readings, Past Life Regressions, Reiki Healing (master/teacher
level), Psychometry (psychic touch), Aura readings and more. In August
of 2002 I dissolved her partnership and real life store to persue the
on-line store exculsivly. With my time and attention no longer divided
I am dedicated to bringing you the best service on the web.
I also do Tarot readings at Jillians Night
clubin the V.I.P. room. Jillians is located in northern Kentucky. I am
a traditional Reiki master/teacher and ordained minister. As a high priestess
of Wicca and a Buddhist I have studied many magickal and spiritual paths,
systems of divination, healing modalities, psychology, spiritual movements,
etc. I am happy to provide guidance on which books or items to purchase
for your specific needs. If you would like advice e-mail me here.
