Sun in Aquarius: Happy Birthday Aquarius! After reclusive and solitary Capricorn comes Aquarius, the most outgoing and receptive of the zodiacal signs. Aquarius lies opposite Leo, a sign that seeks external realization of the ego. The Aquarian dream is to merge that ego with the cosmos. Aquarius, the Water Bearer pours new life into culture. Aquarians are the mystics, the idealists, the reformers, the humanitarians the innovators, the inventors--and, most of all, the communicators of their groups.
Aquarians are generous, flexible, freethinking, and curious about ideas that run counter to tradition. Given their humanitarian impulses, they are often strongly dedicated to the cause of human fellowship and are capable of total self-abnegation in the service of the common good. Many Aquarians strive to live more on the spiritual plane than on the material one. Nonetheless, their spirituality and profound insight are usually tempered by a degree of rationality. This fortuitous coupling produces great creativity, which may find its outlet in the service of an ideology. On the other hand, the restless and original Aquarian temperament may lend itself to many other interests, including science and technology.

This month we are facing that 'ol holiday of Valentines. What ever our personal feelings towards this holiday, there can be no denial of the magickal energy. As a culture we have put mass amounts of romantic energy into this day of Feb. 14th. Thus this time of year is ripe for love magick.
If you don't have a date for this Valentines why not reserve that night to make a magickal date with yourself. Gather your magickal tools together such as candles, flowers, incense, and other mood enhances. Write a poem, or a list about what you would like to change in your love life. Have a talk with one of the love Gods such as Aphrodite, Isis, Eros or even Pan.

If you do have a date add a bit of magick by cooking with enticing herbs. A meal infused with love and magick can bring about amazing changes in two people.

We wish you a very romantic and fulfilling Valentines!

Suggested books: Love Magick

Love Magic: By Laurie Cabot: This book covers most aspects of love magick. It also has great chapters on getting to know the inner you, the anima or animus. Helps you figure out what you want in a mate, and how you are as a mate. Highly recommended.
Bewitchments: By Edian McCoy: Nicely laid out and a great cover. Reading thorough this book I was a bit shocked. The spells tend to be on the dark side of things, and not really in tune with the Wiccan rede. Yet if you are not worried about your Karma, then this book is for you.

Bewitched: By Titania: This book is is very beautiful complete with a red velvet cover. Her spells are a bit difficult if you are not the Martha Stuart type. It's worth it thought just for the beautiful and inspiring photos.
Gypsy love Magick: By Buckland: This is a very nice and simple little book. Mostly about spells and folklore. There is a great Egyptian love charm which I did. Very Cool! Some of the spells ask for impossible ingredence, or ask you to go to odd places, at odd times of the year. Yet definitely worth owning.

21 Ways to Find Your Soulmate: A very good practical how to book on the craft of love. This is not for those who are looking for a simple friendship or one night of lust. It's for those who truly wish to find their life mate. By reading through it, my opinion is if you follow the book to the letter you will be very happy with your love life!
Earth,Air,Fire,Water: Scott Cunningham: Not specifically a Love magick book. This book is for those who needs things a little simple. The author teaches you how to construct your own spells for almost any reason. Highly Recommended!

Ostara: March 20th:
Imbolc or Imbolg is one of the most beautiful pagan festivals. It is a fire festival during which it is traditional to light every candle in your home. The Goddess Brigid (Brigit, Breed) rules over fertility, childbirth and crops. She is honored on Feb. 2nd and brings with her the promise of spring. Our coven will celebrate this year by lighting over 50 candles, and setting up Brigid's bed. This is the night when the Goddess lies in her "marriage" bed with the God. The Goddess is usually represented by a corn dollie, or corn cob in a wedding dress. During the night she and the God represented by a horn are left to their own devices. In the morning she is pregnant with the fertile spring. This is a great time to prepare yourself for the quickening energy of the summer.

Fire Scying for cold nights: Cuddling up to a warm fire can bring more than comfort. Scrying is an ancient form of divination that is less practiced today. By "zoning out" and staring into the ember (not the flame) our ancestors foretold future events. Certain shapes, forms and animals depicted in the glowing ash indicated the answers to all their deepest questions. So when you are drinking your cider, listening to the crackle of the fire remember this suggestion. Decipher the symbols of the living fire. This is sure to bring about some "en-light-enment".

Februa: "Our Roman fathers gave the name of februa to instruments of
purification. When houses are swept out, the toasted spelt and salt which the officer gets as means of cleansing are called by the same name. The name is given the bough, which, cut from a pure tree, wreaths with its leaves the holy brow of priests.
In short, anything used to cleanse our bodies went by that name in the time of our unshorn forefathers. The month is called after these things, because the Luperci purify the whole ground with strips of hide, which are their instruments of cleansing, or because the season is pure when once peace-offerings have
been made at the graves and the days devoted to the dead are past. Our sires believed that every sin and every cause of ill could be wiped out by rites
or purgation." - Ovid's Fasti ii. 19 - 36. Submitted by Gaius.
